how's it goin folks? you don't say! after a long stretch of work days, 2 weeks straight to be exact, friday is finally here. i'm thinking of animating this weekend. i work so much better when i'm not wearing pants.
i found an elderly sketch book of mine.
exhibit a:
followed by a couple quick little "i-can't think-of-what-to-draw-so-make-some-random-shit-up" kind of doodles. i find them amusing. but hey, can't speak for everyone.
classic 'jordan's a sick bitch" humor here.
and a glimpse into my dreamland. . .
and lastly, i embarrass myself with a lame drawing of conan o'brien i did because a friend made me miss him. i have been without cable for a month and a half now. it's painful, but i feel a little more productive. i just really miss watching the stock market and oprah and what not to wear and scrambled porn. but you get by. one day at a time. this is conan off the top of my head, pretty lame. but practice is supposedly going to make perfect, which will ultimately go nowhere for me anyway.
ok i lied. lastly (again) is what i think everyone's friday song should be.
i've caught myself in a little drawer's block. i have been so wrapped up in caricature drawings, that when i go back to drawing little comic deals, i dont know what to draw. suggestions? requests?
i am going to put up my grandpa's original artwork on my bedroom wall. a few homes ago, i covered an entire wall and it inspired the shit outta me. he was a cartoonist back in the day, used to draw caricatures of all the glitz and glamor that was hollywood. his name was Manning Hall. he wrote/illustrated a book called "Making Faces".
i grew up with this book always around, and by the time i grew to appreciate it, it was pretty withered and fragile. i went on ebay and sure enough, there was one for sale. it says $1.oo on the cover, but i guess with inflation, it went for $20. even after telling the guy he's my grandpa, no discount here. but it was well worth the money spent, it was an original pressing, in pristine condition. and now i use it as a teacher. i never got to meet him. he passed a few years before i was born. so all i have to go by is all of his AMAZING artwork.
look it up on ebay. i just checked, there are a few copies going for far less than what i paid.
on a completely unrelated note, this happened yesterday.
2) my brother jon. i'm so used to quick and simple cartoons, i'm trying to get back into caricatures.
3) what can i say? it's a fly burning a guy.
4) balloons. i filled up an entire sketch book with these guys. it's kind of a random mess of 'a-day-in-the-life' for a balloon. for whatever reason, it doesnt get old for me.
