ok. feeling a little more focused today. i have a job lined up. might be back at aaron brothers again. money and discounts on art supplies. wooo. also put together a dvd portfolio of animation and a slide show of cartoons. making a list of studios to hit up. here's some i found lying around.
hey kids. sorry the posts arent daily anymore like i had planned. no scanner. but i think for the time being, i'm just gonna take photos of them. like so.
this is a lost episode of me questioning religion.
these were drawn back when i worked, or i should say "worked" in the meat department. customer service brings out the best in me.
here's a cartoon i did out of complete boredom. it's called "waste of paper."
last night, i went and saw the raveonettes in los angeles. i live for this band. they are my definition of heaven. it was an amazing show. never have i experienced a blanket of sound like that before. it was perfect. for those who like music, and i mean, really like good music, check out this album:
sorry, fellow 'midnight awesome-ers' about the hibernation. i lost my job, took a vacation, and have been job hunting. (in that order.) i didn't stop drawing. i have a stack of them here, waiting for your eyes to do what they do best. i just need to figure out how to get them into my computer now that i don't work next to a scanner.
but i can't leave you empty handed. these come to us from my good good pal, mellissa reeder. sources tell me that this ninja cat has been based on a true story.
thank you mellissa, for keeping the art flowing in these hard times. if you guys have anything, pwease, send them over : sonicfuzzmunki@gmail.com
what a day it has been already. its only 11:08am. i never like agreeing with stereotypes, but it is official. i am a starving artist. i am out of money until friday as of yesterday. the buses to work run me up $5 roundtrip everyday. i walked 7 miles to work this fine wednesday morning. where am i going with this. . . . first off, my legs fucking hurt. secondly, you know the leeds mattress adverts? i saw about 5 of these along the way and i feel they are getting away with selling mattresses using my image. just because i am lazy does not give them the right to make me the poster child for sleeping.
in other news, this is what my legs feel like. . . .
i did get some cool mail today. from my family over at aaron brothers up in auburn where i worked for about a year. they sent me a big box full of housewarming things. like candles and a harmonica, a blue pineapple candle lamp thing and a cd and 2 bags of balloons. which brings us to . . . .
balloons watch porn too.
i draw balloons a lot. for whatever reason, i think they are hilarious. i have over a hundred glimpses into the everyday lives of balloons. I am looking into publishing their stories right now. **no, thats not a joke.
send me pictures! i want to start posting all of your drawings too. maybe like once a week, post a batch of fan art. if you dont want to be a fan, then say so. but still, email your crap to sonicfuzzmunki@gmail.com and i'll let you know when its going up. sounds like fun yahhh?
i want to kill my neighbor. i have 16 dings on my door from his stupid truck. blue paint n all. is ding really even a word? after i discovered that, i was locked in my apartment. seriously. 45 minutes wrestling with the fucking doorknob before we ended up just ripping it out of the door. oops, this is completely irrelevant to anything. all i'm saying is, tuesday should be called boozeday.
graffiti. who gives a shit about it? there is so much graffiti in north hollywood. these b.a.m.f.'s waddle around in their cool clothes and scribble their "signature scribble" on a brick wall, or the ground, or a dumpster. "hey guys, this here dumpster is MYYY dumpster." there's an alley behind my apartment, and some guy wrote "our alley . . ." and then trailed off into some sig. scribb. . i'm debating writing is very clear letters "mine too, we are friends now." maybe a little winking smiley face. i'm gonna start tagging cool things, like tires, starbucks cups, dog turds and tennis balls. sleeping homeless ladies, bus drivers, flowers and roadkill. i already have a signature scribble. ok. here are a few others from the last day or so. . . .
* * *i dont condone words like these. i voted no on 8. it's the devil talking, thats all. . . .* * *
lastly, i leave you with some old papers i found in my box labeled "shit".
i've caught myself in a little drawer's block. i have been so wrapped up in caricature drawings, that when i go back to drawing little comic deals, i dont know what to draw. suggestions? requests?
i am going to put up my grandpa's original artwork on my bedroom wall. a few homes ago, i covered an entire wall and it inspired the shit outta me. he was a cartoonist back in the day, used to draw caricatures of all the glitz and glamor that was hollywood. his name was Manning Hall. he wrote/illustrated a book called "Making Faces".
i grew up with this book always around, and by the time i grew to appreciate it, it was pretty withered and fragile. i went on ebay and sure enough, there was one for sale. it says $1.oo on the cover, but i guess with inflation, it went for $20. even after telling the guy he's my grandpa, no discount here. but it was well worth the money spent, it was an original pressing, in pristine condition. and now i use it as a teacher. i never got to meet him. he passed a few years before i was born. so all i have to go by is all of his AMAZING artwork.
look it up on ebay. i just checked, there are a few copies going for far less than what i paid.
on a completely unrelated note, this happened yesterday.
2) my brother jon. i'm so used to quick and simple cartoons, i'm trying to get back into caricatures.
3) what can i say? it's a fly burning a guy.
4) balloons. i filled up an entire sketch book with these guys. it's kind of a random mess of 'a-day-in-the-life' for a balloon. for whatever reason, it doesnt get old for me.
